ITC Agreements about Minimum Rates of Pay for 2008/9Traditionally, circus has been poorly funded in the UK and the costs of creating and touring work is high. This has meant that many people have worked in the sector for very little financial reward, for love not money, and for the creative challenges and the lifestyle. As circus moves into the 21st Century, and the public funding sector recognises it as an art form we hope that pay and conditions will improve. It is important that individual practitioners don't undervalue their work by quoting low fees for shows, workshops and corporate work but it is also important that companies strive to pay fair wages for circus employees. ITC has just set its minimum pay guidelines for 2008/9 for Performers, Stage Managers, Directors, Designers, Choreographers, Writers and Administrators Go to the ITC website and look under Advice and Info / Contracts and Rates of Pay |
