|

I just received this very intriguing email from Kate Smith:
I am currently doing some research on the labour market, career patterns and socio-economic situation of contemporary circus performers for a chapter of a book titled Circus as Modernity edited by anthropologist Yoram Carmeli and written by a variety of academics and circus professionals.
I write to you in the hope that your organisation might be able to share with me any relevant information you have about people currently working in the circus arena. I understand that you will have a confidentiality policy; however, I am simply hoping to create a general map of the profession, ideally subdivided into subcategories of age, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic and educational background and traditional tented circus versus 'contemporary' circus, so I am not interested in tracing information back to individuals.
Any assistance and information you are able to provide would be most
gratefully received.
I look forward to hearing from you.
