If you intend to hire a performer, an act or a complete show there are various things you should consider.

Make a Check List
- Check that you can provide an appropriate performing space, which might be as simple as a site/a theatre or the street
- NB: Professional companies and performers should be able to provide you with technical requirements info or other support they might need.
- If in doubt, arrange a site visit by the company, particularly important for large-scale or tented shows
- You could approach individuals or companies directly, or work through a reputable agent. This may cost a little more but gives protection
- Check insurance held - performers should all carry Public Liability Insurance
- You might ask for a proof of having a CRB check for adults working with children
- If in doubt ask for references or video footage, or use a reputable agent
