Is this the best summer job in Britain?
Leeds Castle, a former Royal Palace in Kent is following in the tradition of the Tudor kings by appointing a member of staff just to make people happy.
We want to find a happy, cheerful, enthusiastic, entertaining jester who will be paid to to lark about, to juggle and turn cartwheels and tell jokes, teach basic circus skills and perform tricks. An interest in history and the ability to speak a foreign language would be welcome.
Costumes would be provided but candidates are expected to have their own equipment for entertaining crowds, corporate and wedding guests.
Interviews will be live performances at the castle throughout the half term week, 18th- 24th February, when we will ask our visitors to decide who they like best. The court jester will receive his or her official appointment in time for the Easter holidays. Key skills will include juggling and tumbling.

London Youth Circus — Artistic Director

Circus Space is recruiting a creative practitioner, company or organisation to direct and deliver the London Youth Circus Production in 2013. The aim of this project is to enable and support young artists as practitioners of performance, using their specialist skills to create work of the highest artistic merit and innovation. The production will showcase the skills of the London Youth Circus performers, as well as informing the wider artistic community about the possibilities that circus skills can offer. You will create a show with the young people and alongside their circus teachers. The show must showcase the students' technical capability and be artistically innovative.

Circus Space are recruiting for Teaching Assistants to join our Adult and Youth Programme teaching team. Circus Space Teaching Assistants work alongside experienced teachers to support learning on our recreational programmes. This role is a fantastic opportunity to gain paid experience and a greater understanding of teaching and learning at a range of ages and stages.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for their discipline and an interest in developing their knowledge and understanding of best practice in circus training. This role is suitable for those with experience of aerial, acrobatic or equilibristic disciplines. Some teaching experience is desirable but not essential.

Male & Female Acrobat/Aerialist Duo wanted for a week of R&D 22-27 July, Hereford

Both to have strong aerial skills: female especially silks/trapeze, male rope/pole/floor based counterbalance work.

Ideally they have a pre-existing working relationship and are comfortable together.

Experience of devising/performing theatre would be very useful. Any additional performance skills most welcome including musical abilities.

KALO DANT is a new play based on Romani gypsy folk tales. This is a week long research and development exploring staging ideas for a full scale production.

Saturday 28th July is the performance night with production week and technical rehearsals 22rd - 26th July from 6-10pm. On Friday 27th - no rehearsals are scheduled at present.

Ideally we are looking for 2 stilt performers who are available able to perform, move well and are comfortable within a crowd outdoors and be able to take direction but also be part of a big cast. Costume is provided but you must have your own stilts, bouncy, peg or something else similar (probably not durastilts ) Rehearsals in Coventry on Sunday 1st and 22nd July during the day. Then the technical rehearsals during the week 23rd — 26th are in the evenings between 6 — 10pm. Friday night 27th July there are no rehearsals scheduled at present. A good fee and transport are paid, accommodation provided.

This is a one night performance only on the 28th July and is part of the Cultural Olympiad 2012. There are 400 performers in the production — Choir, aerialists, dancers, drummers, carnivalists and puppeteers. Godiva (6 metre state of the art puppet ) will awaken after 1000 years in Coventry and be giving the quest of delivering a giant book called 'The Book of Intent' to London during the 2012 Olympics. The performance will play to a live audience of nearly 3,000 and be screened live to a further audience on a giant screen in the city centre.

Lead Trainer needed for 3 months in Nepal

Circus trainer/ coordinator needed ASAP in Nepal for Circus Kathmandu - FLIGHTS PAID.
Due to unforeseen circumstances we have lost our lead trainer. We need someone to replace him ASAP.
Because of the short notice of this we are able to pay the flight for the right candidate who would be able to come out ASAP and stay for at least three months. All other living expenses are also covered.
Skills needed: the ability to oversee the training of a group of 14 young adults (conditioning, games, skills development). They are training in aerial, acrobatics and other circus skills. Skills in theatre, clowning welcomed.

Performers/trainers Wanted!

Circus Ferrel are East Anglia's brightest, friendliest all human touring family show. With a stunning big top we bring our fun show primarily to schools in Norfolk and Suffolk. Most weeks we run free workshops for the children and then put on professional shows at the weekend to fund the visit.

We are looking for two further performers/trainers to strengthen our small young team. Enthusiasm for circus and willingness to take children's workshops and to help with the varied jobs on tour are vital and more important than ability level.

There will be plenty of free time and encouragement to use the tent's facilities to develop your acts and for personal training. Use of the tent, on site accommodation, travel between grounds, 24 hour electricity, gas and hot weekday lunches during term time will be included.

  • About the project: The project is divided into two sections:

  • Volunteers needed: We need volunteers across a mix of circus and theatre disciplines for the rest of the year. Most urgently we need specialists in aerial and acrobatics, but we would also love volunteers with advanced skill in hand to hand, contortion, hand balancing, hula hoop, clowning and physical theatre, puppetry. You will need to have good experience in teaching. We are looking for both lead and support trainers. Groups/ pairs who work together would work very well in this situation. We welcome volunteers for any length of time, but we recommend a minimum of three months, as we have found that this is an ideal amount of time for both the volunteer and the group to really start benefitting from the volunteers input. Food, accommodation and local travel is covered.

The Street Circus Coordinator will coordinate the delivery of all Street Circus programmes at the Roundhouse and in a range of community settings over the course of 3 years. Casting Call - NoFit State Circus

The 'wows' of an audience are what make a NoFit State performer tick. As the UK's leading contemporary circus company we're seeking highly-skilled circus artists for a number of innovative new projects. We are particularly interested in hearing from unusual and dynamic ground based acts.

Following Labyrinth in 2011, NoFit State has been commissioned to create a brand new site-specific show at the Eden Project for summer 2012. Run over five weeks, performances take place on the Eden bandstand, along with promenade pieces in the gardens and the biomes, and daytime activities and workshops. Creation and rehearsals will run 25 June — 25 July, with performances between 27 July — 2 September. Further re-rehearsals and performances may run mid March — May.

We also seek performers for a collaborative show with Wales Millennium Centre and National Theatre Wales opening in July 2013. The result of a long devising process comprising of several stages.

First auditions will be in the form of a workshop with Firenza Guidi between 2 — 4 March 2012.

Aerial class co-ordinator (South London)

Job Description: We're looking for someone to help manage weekly Aerial fitness classes - Aerial silks, hoop, slings etc on Monday and Tuesday evenings (6.20-9.50pm), (and possibly others TBC.) Post would involve basic rigging, setting up the equipment, managing class attendees, leading a 20 minute class warm-up and working alongside instructors to ensure the smooth running of the classes.

Applicants would need to have their own insurance, and be registered self employed. The successful candidate would be able to fully participate in the later class. Technical Intern for Circus Space

The aim of this internship is to provide the trainee with essential work experience required for kick starting a technical career in the circus industry. The internship will take place at the Circus Space but the trainee might be required to attend off site events if relevant to the training scheme's learning objectives. The trainee will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience of working in a circus school and on live shows and events.
